The government of Manitoba, in corroboration with federal authorities, opened an opportunity for foreign Mechanics, Welders, Cooks and Industrial painters who want to immigrate to Canada.
To be eligible, a candidate must possess more than 2 years of work experience in the occupation. There is an English knowledge requirement as well (or French). If a candidate underwent an IELTS test, the results must be recent, no more than 2 years old and the score must be no less than 5 in each proficiency (speaking, reading, writing and understanding). For this program, the candidate must be 21-45 years of age. The applicant also has to have a post secondary education or formal training, for at least one year. The applicants must have settlement funds to support themselves upon arrival to the province and there is no need to have an express entry profile as it applies to other programs.
Whoever wants to immigrate to Manitoba must demonstrate that they don’t have any ties to any other province in Canada.
Some other professionals may also be good candidates for this provincial program and they are: Mechanical Assembler (especially trainer assembly), Woodworking machine operators and Early Childhood Educators. Early Childhood Educators are required to have federal express entry profile meaning that they must meet minimum eligibility requirement for federal program and their work experience is with children under 5 years old. Minimum work experience is 2 years in the last five years preceding your application.
There are other ways to immigrate to Manitoba. If you are a business person, have funds to invest in your new or existing business and are ready to take an active role in managing the business, you might qualify to be selected for immigration to this province.
The eligibility for business investors are:
- Minimum of three years of full time work experience in the past five years (a candidate has to be actively engaged in their business);
- A score of no less than 5 from CLB/NCLC language test;
- Minimum of high school level of education;
- Preferable age 25-49;
- Minimum investment of $250,000 for an eligible business in Manitoba Capital Region;
- Minimum Investment of $150,000, if they plan to invest into business outside of the Manitoba Capital Region;
- Minimum of $500,000 net worth (your personal assets).
A business investor is expected to create jobs for Canadians within 24 months of arrival as a worker in the province (a successful candidate for this program will be given a work permit for the duration of 2 years at first). The province will grant a business investor candidate the right to make an exploratory visit to Manitoba to conduct business research for their future business investment or proposal.
Provincial government will give a candidate additional points, if their spouses have English language knowledge, they or their spouse have a close relative living in the province, their child has been enrolled in an educational institution in the province, and if they or their spouse completed at least one year of a post-secondary education in Manitoba, or worked in the province for at least 6 months.
